OUR PROVEN METHOD IS SAFE AND SAVES YOU MONEY!

"Do-It-Yourselfer" Common Mistakes

Learn More About Risks and Physical Dangers of Roof Cleaning - Residential - Commercial
Roof stain cleaning, residential or commercial, is serious work. It involves certain physical risks and dangers.  No matter your skill or experience as a do-it-yourselfer, regardless of your age or condition, ask yourself this question:  "Is the money I might save cleaning my own roof worth a broken hip or a broken neck, or death?"

This is NOT a sales pitch question.  When you attempt to clean your own roof, here is what you surely will face.

  • Gasoline and time to purchase products
  • Reliance on a salesperson who is not an expert in either products or their application ("Well, I tell you, another customer said this is all he uses...but I never have used it myself.")
  • Inferior "across the counter" products requiring:
    • more product purchase, due to weaker product strength
    • uncertain product outcomes, unless you have used it before
  • You will need to have, borrow, or purchase the correct equipment.  Add up the costs and headaches.  We can name about fifteen essential items.
    • The first fourteen items add up to $2000 to purchase.
    • These fourteen will cost at least $200 per day to rent or purchase.
    • The fifteenth item is more important than a pressure washer, hoses, chemicals, or even a ladder.  What is it?  You really need one pair of $200 non-slip boots designed for walking on roofs.
    • On that last item, your boat shoes or Nikes or New Balance really may not work well.  But then, hey, who's in charge, right?
  • Then you have time and labor
    • You will test and set up your equipment
    • You will read directions (several times), then mix
    • You will go up and down a ladder many times (of course, you won't slip, not you)
    • You will carefully, carefully reach around the ladder to step off on to  and off of the roof (not gonna say it)
    • You will drag along your washer wand, and your two-way radio (to talk to your helper below--especially when you see no chemical coming out of the wand--to tell him or her to shut off the equipment)
    • You will walk up, across, left and right, up your roof (shallow or steep, no big deal)
  • You will need one helper (trust us on this one) for many tasks down below
    • You can recruit a family member for free for your best savings (if you buy them a $25 dinner or a round of golf)
    • You can pay a neighbor or third party who you THEN get to train, teach, and keep moving (if you can coordinate your schedules)
  • You IMAGINE you will save by doing it yourself.  Maybe you will.  Maybe you won't.  Maybe you are willing to bet $300--your skills and savvy versus your injury and your life.  If you ARE injured on THIS work, plan on one of the following:
    • a trip to the ER
    • a stay in the hospital for surgery
    • long term rehabilitation and nursing care for a broken hip
    • being the center of attention at your local funeral home (!)

We have used a little, very little, humor.  Most of what is listed above is real.  Much has been left out.  We are not trying to strong-arm you against "doing it yourself."  Someone once said, "Before an undertaking, sit down and weigh the costs, to see if there are resources to finish."

We understand everyone needs to save money today.  Yet it saddens us every time we read or hear a homeowner has been injured or killed trying to save money, yet losing health or life for a few dollars.

That is why we provide the best service and product, at the best price. We follow the "Golden Rule" and treat others as we want to be treated.

So we do not recommend roof stain cleaning for most do-it-yourselfers. Yes, paint your home.  But we beg you not to "shave a few dollars" on difficult and dangerous work.  Use your internet research not to "do it yourself"--and break your neck, back, hip, leg, arm for the great savings of $300.  Use your internet research to find the most professional, safe, reliable, environmentally friendly company, with their best price.
